In my spare time, I love experimenting with small projects that solve everyday problems. Open Figma App was born out of curiosity, fun and a personal need—I wanted a seamless way to open Figma links in the desktop app without dealing with unnecessary browser tabs.
A (not) tidied up workspace.
Every time I opened a Figma link, it left an extra tab lingering in my browser, cluttering my workspace and disrupting my flow. To fix this, I joined forces with ChatGPT to develop a simple solution that meets my needs.
Every time it ended like this.
THE SOLUTION
Open Figma App detects Figma links and redirects them to the desktop app using Figma’s native feature. It also closes the leftover browser tab, keeping the workspace tidy. A simple, lightweight extension that subtly improves my workflow.
The extension works when clicking on links.
The extension works with pasted links too.
